Water Resources
The objective of this project is to check the feasibility and to prepare a proposal of a ERA-Net project on Integrated Water possible openness to other countries (in particular NIS and Africa) within the framework of the European Water Initiative (EUWI) to be also examined (or a connection to a ERA-Net proposal from the ad hoc European working group).
Euwi aims to improve the effectiveness of EU member state funded research on water for development, through better communication and coordination of research activities, and thus contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals. It will provide global leadership in the OECD-DAC coordinated efforts to increase harmonisation and alignment of donor actions with developing country partners.
The CRUE network has been set up to consolidate existing European flood research programmes, promote best practice and identify gaps and opportunities for collaboration on future programme content. Its 13 partners come from most European countries that have been particularly badly affected by flooding. By supporting best practice and the spread of knowledge, they expect to improve flood management in their own countries and the rest of Europe.
