Energy

logo_fencoFENCO-ERA is a key component of an overall carbon management strategy. Global energy demand is anticipated to double by about 2030. Satisfying this increased energy demand will pose many challenges. These include concerns about global climate change, security of energy supply, the role of nuclear power and the use of renewable energy.

logo_innerThe INNER project will improve coordination and collaboration through information exchange and analysis of strategic elements in the first two years of its operation. This will lead to a benchmarking of approaches and a proposal for joint transnational pilot activities. The third and fourth year of operation will focus on implementing and evaluating these activities. Finally, a high level policy conference will mark the conclusion of the ERANET, and the beginning of a lasting collaboration.

The European strategy for renewable energy sources identifies bioenergy as the most important renewable energy source for the future: a source of cleaner, more secure and sustainable power for Europe. Bioenergy is a highly diverse area: crops are converted to biofuels for transport; landfill sites are tapped for biogas to heat towns; and forestry residues are used to produce electricity. As national programmes fund 90% of bioenergy research in Europe, coordinating them will improve outcomes. The ERA-NET Bioenergy networks national bioenergy research programmes to improve cost-effectiveness and ensure the maximum research impacts for this vital energy sector.

logo_pvPV ERA NET is a European network of programme coordinators and managers in the field of photovoltaic solar energy (PV) research and technological development (RTD). The consortium comprises major key stakeholders in the field of national and regional RTD programmes involving photovoltaics (PV), which is considered a key technology and industry. The consortium comprises 17 partners from 11 countries with more than 20 national RTD programmes (or parts of programmes) and two regional RTD programmes.
